General Medical Information

General Dental Information

You should visit the dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings- usually every 6 months.  Visiting the dentist will help you maintain your teeth and avoid costly dental bills

Drug and Alcohol Treatment

Don’t be afraid to talk to your caseworker about getting treatment, you won’t get in trouble, they just want to help you.  Visit Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous to find local meetings and support in your city.

Food, Nutrition & Fitness

Good eating habits is essential to keeping your body healthy.  Visit the websites below to learn all you need to know about taking care of yourself from the inside out!  

  • The Pennsylvania Department of Health Provides a variety of information regarding nutrition through its website called Safe Teens
  • Florida Food Resource Directory - You can enter your zip code or address and find food resources in your area. You can also find WIC programs, homeless shelters and services, domestic violence shelters, and religious organizations
  • Teens Health  Recipes for Teens with different nutritional needs
  • WIC is a federally funded nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children. WIC provides the following at no cost: healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care. (English, Spanish, Creole, Vietnamese)

Receive Confidential STD and HIV/AIDS testing and services

STD and HIV/AIDS testing is confidential.  If you think you may have an STD, the most important thing to do is to get tested!  All county health departments will test for and treat sexually transmitted diseases and so will some private doctors.  By calling your local county health department, you can get private and confidential information about getting tested and find out how to get treated.  To find out more information about sexually transmitted diseases visit IWannaKnow.org
